VoteSafe Approvals

Voters Not Politicians announced the results of VNP’s VoteSafe questionnaires, identifying 56 sitting legislators and state House candidates who support our VoteSafe campaign goals.

Michiganders deserve to have pro-voter leaders in Lansing who put voting access and public health above partisan politics. But some leaders are standing in the way of passing commonsense, bipartisan legislation to protect our right to vote.

The list identifies legislators and candidates for office who support removing as many barriers as possible in order to maximize absentee voting, including sending ballots to voters, and moving Michigan to a full vote-at-home system in Michigan for the long term.

The VNP questionnaire measured each person’s support for: 

• Additional funding and infrastructure to ensure that ballots are secure and no voter is disenfranchised
• Ensuring voters have options to return the ballot by mail, at a secure drop box, or to their local clerk’s office
• Expanding access to clerks’ offices for in-person voting and registration before and on Election Day to minimize crowding

Voters Not Politicians' goal is to identify leaders who will pass pro-voter legislation to keep our elections safe and secure.
