Voters Not Politicians has a proven success record of inspiring everyday citizens to take action and use their political power to transform our democracy. Our strategy: first we educate, then we activate.
We are now employing that strategy to combat the voter suppression efforts of legislation like the SAVE Act: by educating voters and then recruiting these informed citizens into taking action to grow a community of grassroots activists ready to mobilize across the state.
Since the beginning of the year, our citizen lobbying program, Dial for Democracy, has seen explosive growth. We use our email alert system to give voters detailed information about legislation and helpful scripts they can use when talking to their legislators. Through this program, we’ve successfully engaged hundreds of volunteers in grassroots lobbying to protect voting rights at both the state and federal level.
This weekend, on Saturday April 12th, we are preparing what may be our single largest day of action yet: simultaneous Stop the SAVE Act rallies outside congressional district offices across the entire state of Michigan. We are seeing more sign-ups than we ever expected, including in areas represented by anti-voter lawmakers who support these voter suppression measures.

That is important because it means we have the opportunity to show these lawmakers that Michiganders across the political spectrum support elections that are secure and accessible, and reject voter suppression efforts like the SAVE Act.
It’s clear to us that now that Michigan voters are being made aware of the threats facing our elections, they are fired up and ready to fight back against these blatant attacks on our right to vote. Voters Not Politicians will continue to be the space where these grassroots activists come together to learn, train, and take action to affect positive change for our democracy.
