Prop 22-2 added language to the Michigan Constitution that protects and provides critical financial support for local communities to ensure elections are accessible and secure.

Pre-paid postage must be provided by Michigan election officials on absentee ballot applications and absentee ballot envelopes
Requires at least one drop box in every municipality and at least one drop box for every 15,000 registered voters in a municipality
Require donation disclosure of polling places and other charitable donations

The identity of each voter will be verified prior to counting their vote, whether they are voting in person or by mail – click to learn more

Prop 22-2 requires voters to prove their identity by showing a photo ID or signing an affidavit. The initiative will protect the affidavit process for voters who forget their photo ID when voting in person on Election Day.

The initiative will also allow voters to prove their identity by providing their signature when voting by mail. Signatures will be compared to the signature on file and the voter will be notified if their signature doesn’t match so they have an opportunity to correct the issue.

Prop 22-2 requires election audits to be performed by election officials in public based on methods established prior to each election. Public officials will maintain the security of ballots and election materials.

This amendment ensures that the Board of State Canvassers is the only entity authorized to certify election results and requires that those results are determined solely by votes cast by registered Michigan voters.
