Mapping in Southern MI Continues, Updates to Mapping Procedures

The Commission continued their progress from Friday and drew State Senate districts in parts of Southeast and South Central Michigan, including Greater Lansing. They also began drawing State House districts in Southwest Michigan.

In addition to mapping, the Commission has also approved Resolution 2021.08.16 to amend the MICRC Mapping Process and Procedures that was approved during the August 19th, MICRC meeting. Among these amendments includes the decision to not have discussions surrounding Communities of Interest (COIs) until after the Commission has begun drafting district lines based on equal population.
