Voters Not Politicians is seeking a Regional Organizer based in Wayne, Oakland, or Macomb County to recruit, train and support volunteers and volunteer leaders, and support the planning and execution of voter education or issue advocacy programs.

Job Description

The Southeast Michigan Regional Organizer reports to the State Field Director and supports volunteers in meeting campaign objectives. This job requires that the candidate lives in Southeast Michigan: Oakland, Wayne or Macomb County.

The Regional Field Organizer will support the Programs Team in planning, execution, and reporting on campaign objectives; will facilitate recruiting, onboarding, and training volunteers; and will support processes, meetings, workshops, etc. to keep volunteers active, productive, and satisfied with their roles.

Support the Programs Team to plan and execute programs across the VNP family of organizations.
Recruit, train, and support volunteers and volunteer leaders in Southeast Michigan:
- Motivate, support and empower volunteer field leaders to succeed in building strong, active teams that get results, feel connected, and have a high level of satisfaction in their volunteer experience.
- Plan and supervise volunteer calls and meetings, including regional volunteer leadership, regional volunteer meetings, in addition to regular volunteer onboarding and training.
- Develop locally appropriate recruitment strategies to support program goals and engage volunteers.
- Serve as the primary communication conduit between volunteers and program staff through platforms such as Mobilize America, Gmail, and other VNP platforms.
- Complete thorough post-event follow up, including communication with all attendees and making updates to volunteer activist codes in volunteer databases.
- Support other programs staff in regional distribution of supplies, ensuring volunteers promptly receive field supplies necessary to carry out program objectives.
- Co-develop and execute regional goals for VNP’s volunteer recruitment calendar.
- Track program metrics and progress to campaign and program goals.
Participate in coalition field organizing calls and programming as required.
Facilitate and participate in voter contact, including in-person field actions and phone and text banks.
To support volunteer teams, evening and weekend hours and regular travel throughout a large region of Michigan will be required. Mileage will be reimbursed, but this position requires a reliable vehicle.

A preferred candidate will:

Have experience in using VAN and/or EveryAction, and Mobilize America
Have experience recruiting, organizing, training, and managing volunteers
Have experience in using Google Suite applications (Drive, Sheets, and Forms in particular)
Have access to a laptop or desktop computer with the ability to navigate multiple tabs and windows simultaneously.
Have some experience with canvassing, phone banking, and/or petition signature collection.
Have excellent time management, project management, and communication skills.
Be responsive, patient, and open to learning and growing through feedback from colleagues and volunteers.

Be willing to respond quickly outside normal business hours.
Be committed to performing the role in the field and lean into in-person activities.

Compensation

Compensation: $4,500/month plus a $425 per month health care stipend. Benefits include a 401(k), health care stipend, and generous paid time off.
