Commission Approves First Set of Draft Maps, Will Move Grand Rapids Hearing

The commission has voted this afternoon to approve the first set of draft State House, State Senate, and Congressional district maps for the second round of public hearings beginning on October 18th. The commission approved 3 State Senate, 3 State House, and 4 Congressional district maps in total. Please keep an eye out on our blog and the commission’s website for the first set of draft maps. The commission has also canceled their meeting for tomorrow, October 12th, due to their decisions on the maps.

Commissioners will have the opportunity to submit their own individual draft maps for public review (one of each type). The commissioners will have until Thursday morning at 10 AM to submit for review. As staff members will need more time to review any individual maps, the commission has voted to move the Grand Rapids public hearing to Friday, October 22nd. The new public hearing details will be available within the next few days.
