Kevin Lignell - Board Secretary
Kevin Lignell was one of the first volunteers to join Voters Not Politicians in 2016 and is a founding member of the organization’s Board of Directors.
Kevin's passion is helping organizations communicate their brand and leverage resources so that they are equipped to solve the toughest social issues. As a Communications Specialist for SEIU Healthcare Michigan, he leads the communications strategy for the largest healthcare union in Michigan with over 11,000 members. Chief among his goals is to ensure that every worker earns a minimum of $15/hour with a strong union supporting them.
Previously, Kevin was a consultant for the School-Community Health Alliance of Michigan where he helped to leverage over $30 million in funding for mental health centers in Michigan schools in 2018. The same year, Kevin also led the effort to re-brand Honor Community Health, the largest health center in Oakland County. Previously, Kevin provided media strategy for the release of the Youth Behind Bars report to raise the age of criminal responsibility from 17 to 18 years of age. Raise the Age legislation was signed into law in 2019 by Governor Gretchen Whitmer.
In addition to his volunteer work with VNP, Kevin is a Young Leader and volunteer for the Detroit Economic Club. Kevin holds a B.S. in Communications and an MPA from Grand Valley State University.
