The Michigan Independent Citizen’s Redistricting Commission (MICRC) has just approved a series of updated mapping processes and procedures for the redistricting process. This includes a mapping schedule that the Commission will follow in drawing districts, which begins tomorrow, August 20th, 2021. The approved mapping schedule is as follows:
- Friday, August 20: State Senate- Southeast and South Central Regions
- Monday, August 23: State House- Southeast Region
- Tuesday, August 24: State House- South Central Region
- Thursday, August 26 (TRAVERSE CITY): State Senate- Upper Peninsula, Northeast, & Northwest Regions
- Monday, August 30: State House- Upper Peninsula, Northeast, & Northwest Regions
- Tuesday, August 31: Congressional- Upper Peninsula, Northeast, & Northwest Regions
- Wednesday, September 1: Congressional- Southeast and South Central Regions
- Thursday, September 2 (ANN ARBOR): State Senate- Metro Detroit Region, *RPV and VRA Presentation
- Tuesday, September 7: State House- Southwest Region
- Wednesday, September 8: State Senate- Southwest Region
- Thursday, September 9 (BIG RAPIDS): State House- West Region
- Monday, September 13: State Senate- West Region
- Tuesday, September 14: State Senate- East and East-Central Regions
- Wednesday, September 15: Congressional- East and East-Central Regions
- Thursday, September 16 (ALLENDALE): Congressional- Southwest & West Regions, *Chair and Vice-Chair reconsideration
- Monday, September 20: State House- East and East-Central Regions
- Tuesday, September 21: State House- Metro Detroit Region
- Wednesday, September 22: Congressional- Metro Detroit Region, *Final date of Draft Proposed mapping
After this mapping period, the Commission will deliberate between Thursday, September 23rd and Thursday, September 30th, voting for the draft proposed maps on the 30th.
