Fighting Back Against Corporate Political Influence

Michiganders are fighting back against corporate political influence in our state government.

We can no longer allow monopoly corporations and corporations seeking state contracts to buy their way out of accountability and drown out the voice of the people. Together, we can take back our power and put an end to the undue influence corporations have in Lansing.

How is corporate political influence impacting your voice?

We all suffer when corporations have undue influence over the elected officials who are supposed to be looking out for us, the people.

For example, because DTE and Consumers Energy have dumped millions into Lansing to escape accountability for years and years, Michiganders pay the highest electric rates in the Midwest for the worst power outages. State governments such as Connecticut, Hawaii, and Georgia and federal agencies such as the Securities Exchange Commission have already passed prohibitions on political spending by monopoly corporations and government contractors.

Voters — not corporations

Politicians need to be accountable to their constituents, not donors. By passing common sense reform, we can make sure Michiganders can finally attain accountable basic services, and we can vote with faith that our voice matters more to the politicians we elect than the wishes of corporate stakeholders who contribute heavily to state legislative candidates.
