LANSING, Mich. – Voters Not Politicians is mobilizing volunteers to provide Michiganders the facts about the anti-voter petition filed by political operatives calling themselves “Secure MI Vote.”
“All of us support safe, secure, and fair elections,” said Nancy Wang, executive director of Voters Not Politicians. “Democracy works best when voters have choices and options to cast their ballots securely. No matter what the sponsors of the petition say, this petition has nothing to do with election integrity, and everything to do with perpetuating the Big Lie. If their scheme to circumvent the voters succeeds, it will cut off access to the ballot for eligible voters.”
“We know that the vast majority of Michiganders support the freedom of all eligible voters to vote: 67% of voters — Republicans, Democrats, and Independents alike — voted to amend our constitution to make voting much more accessible, not less, in 2018. That’s why our volunteers are going to be urging voters everywhere to decline to sign this toxic petition.”
