Voters Not Politicians statement on May 5 elections

The following can be attributed to Nancy Wang, Executive Director of Voters Not Politicians, on today’s elections held in 33 counties across the state:

Higher-than-usual absentee voting in today’s elections demonstrates that voters are ready to move to vote by mail. No voter should be forced to risk their life to vote. We urge the Legislature to act now to provide the infrastructure and funding necessary to send every voter a ballot with prepaid return postage for the August and November elections. The more people who vote by mail, the safer our communities will be during the COVID-19 pandemic. We need to bring the ballot to people’s homes so every voter can exercise their right to vote in August and November without putting themselves and their communities at risk of this deadly virus.
