In order to get the Promote the Vote 2022 constitutional amendment on the November 2022 ballot, the coalition has to submit 425,059 valid signatures by July 11. VNP volunteers are enthusiastically answering the call to action! We are excited to work alongside coalition partners including the League of Women Voters of Michigan, ACLU of MI, and other organizations across the state to get this transformational initiative on the ballot.
The Voters Not Politicians field team is laser-focused on recruiting volunteers, onboarding field leaders, and training circulators on proper signature-gathering procedures. Since this pro-voter ballot initiative was announced just over a month ago, 1,234 volunteers have signed up to get signatures, and we have added 47 new volunteer field leaders around the state. These heroes of democracy have been extremely busy learning the processes and tools necessary to manage signature collection. Circulator training, clipboard prep, and strategic planning for the best locations to collect signatures are also underway.
Here’s how you can help. We are most in need of volunteers to collect signatures. If 2,000 volunteer circulators get 100 signatures each, we’ll be done! Sign up here, and check the top box. We only have about 15 weeks to get 200,000 signatures, VNP’s slice of the larger goal.
We still need field leaders in many areas around the state, including these locations:
- Genesee County – we need 2 Field Coordinators and 2 team leaders
- Wayne County; including Detroit, Downriver, Dearborn, and southeast Wayne County
- Kalamazoo County – 2 team leaders needed
- Bloomfield Hills or Bloomfield – 2 team leaders needed
- Macomb County – 2 to 4 team leaders needed
- Saginaw and Bay City – 2 team leaders needed
If you need to volunteer from home, please sign up to help us recruit volunteers during our regularly scheduled Tuesday evening phone bank, or drop in to an upcoming Letters to the Editor workshop. Register for either event here. Petitions are heading to the printer soon, so don’t wait!
VNP circulators will complete our online training course before heading out in the field

Hi! I am looking forward to getting training for circulating petitions. I received an email/text to sign in to do virtual training but was unable to do it at that moment. I have not been able to find it again. Can you please resend the link and password? I live in Troy and was involved with the signature gathering for the Voters Not Politician petition and follow up door to door canvassing back in 2017/18 for the independent redistricting committee. I am going to have some free time next week (March 21-27) and would like to get things going to set up in front of my local library and community center.
Thanks!
