On January 31, the groups that brought landscape-changing democracy reforms to Michigan in 2018 announced a new collaboration: Promote the Vote 2022.
Voters Not Politicians, in partnership with Promote the Vote, ACLU of Michigan, the League of Women Voters of Michigan, APIA-Vote and Detroit Action, announced a new constitutional amendment ballot initiative. The initiative picks up where the 2018 Promote the Vote constitutional amendment left off; it will not only protect Michigan voters from current and future election threats, it will also expand voting access and modernize our election systems.

First, we need to collect the required number of signatures to get this in front of voters this year.
To get a constitutional amendment proposal on the statewide ballot, the coalition must submit 425,059 valid signatures before July 11, 2022. VNP’s goal is to collect 200,000 of those signatures starting as soon as the petitions are approved and ready. We’ll need 1200 volunteer petition circulators trained by early March, and at least 2000 circulators during the “big push” months of April, May and June.
It’s a tall order, but VNP volunteers are ready to go! Last Thursday, 448 people attended a volunteer update webinar, and just one week after the announcement, we already have more than 500 people signed up to circulate the petition. One week in and we are 25% of the way to our goal!
You can keep our momentum going by signing up to volunteer today!
Voters Not Politicians staff, volunteers, and supporters are fired up and getting our clipboards ready for a huge signature collection push before the July 11 deadline. VNP brings its nonpartisan reputation and strong media presence to this campaign, but it’s our huge and widely distributed volunteer infrastructure that will make the difference in this signature collection phase. By signing up at votersnotpoliticians.com/volunteer and checking the first box for signature collection, you can take direct action to move Michigan in the right direction and protect against the nationally coordinated voter suppression effort.
If you’re already part of VNP, please get in touch with your local field leader or sign up again at votersnotpoliticians.com/volunteer.

Will VNP be publishing the names and addresses of places where one can go to sign the petition so that the constitutional amendment will be on the ballot, for Promote the Vote?
