Commission Makes Major Changes to Lansing, Grand Rapids, Flint in State House Maps

Following public comment from the ICRC’s second round of public hearings, the commission spent today making edits to State House districts in major cities such as Grand Rapids, Lansing, and Flint. Making a third clone of the “Pine” map, the commission made adjustments to districts in Grand Rapids and split Lansing into five districts as requested during the Lansing hearing. The commission also worked on “un-cracking” the city of Flint by putting it into one house district, as that was the most prominent concern among Flint residents during the Flint public hearing.
