The following statement can be attributed to Nancy Wang, executive director of Voters Not Politicians, on the veto of SB 303 & 304, HB 5007:
“We are thrilled that Governor Whitmer today vetoed Senate Bill 303, Senate Bill 304, and House Bill 5007. Today’s veto further demonstrates Governor Whitmer’s commitment to protecting voting access for every eligible Michigander. These bills would have disenfranchised voters across the state by putting up new barriers to voting and restricting funding for local elections.
“Now, we anticipate that the politicians and political operatives behind “Secure MI Vote” will attempt to use this veto to fuel their anti-voter plan. Voters Not Politicians volunteers have mobilized to reach voters before they’re asked to sign this anti-voter petition. We will continue working to expose the truth, and we urge voters to stand up for their constitutional right to vote by declining to sign this toxic petition.”
