2024 Pro-Voter Approved
Elected representatives must be accountable to the constituents they serve and act in their interests.
Voters Not Politicians volunteers and staff set up a process to identify pro-democracy, pro-voter candidates who share our commitment to a government that reflects the will of the people, and who will make strengthening and protecting our democracy a priority.
Because of the important role our judicial system plays in the battle for our democracy, VNP has decided for the first time to also issue approvals to candidates for the Michigan Supreme Court. Justice Kyra Harris Bolden and Kimberly Thomas earned Voters Not Politicians’ Pro-Voter, Pro-Democracy approval for the Michigan Supreme Court. You can learn more about the Supreme Court approvals here.
The Michigan State House creates and passes legislation that governs almost every facet of our government, and therefore, our democracy. State House candidates were invited to fill out this questionnaire that asks about voting access and common-sense ethics and transparency reform policies. Questionnaire responses were examined to determine if candidates' values align with those of Voters Not Politicians. You can view all candidate responses to the questionnaire here.Â
Other considerations for approval for all candidates include public statements and actions, campaign viability, and, in the case of incumbent candidates, voting records on issues such as voting access and structural democracy reform.
Here is the list of 2024 Pro-Voter Approved candidates for the November 5 General Election.
