The Headlines
While chaos at the federal level has been dominating recent headlines, here in Michigan, Voters Not Politicians is focused on doing work that will deliver real results for the people. Our staff is organizing regional volunteer teams, building up our community of activists, and engaging them in deep discussion on campaign finance reform, possible electoral reforms, and the dismal lack of progress on ethics and transparency measures in Michigan state government.
As a volunteer driven organization, VNP’s next big structural democracy reform priorities must be driven by our grassroots base.
The Details
We are strategically engaging our volunteer base and have hosted ten organizing events so far this year, including policy education and development events and in-person recruitment and strategizing meetings. These events are a critical component for any 2025 campaigns, allowing us to cultivate our passionate volunteer network.
These meetings have served two key purposes: reconnecting with existing volunteers, and recruiting new activists to champion Voters Not Politicians’ 2025 policy priorities. We facilitate dynamic discussions centered on the concerns that VNP activists have about democracy, pinpointing the issues with the greatest potential to mobilize both volunteers and voters, soliciting crucial feedback on these key topics, and strategically outlining the essential volunteer roles and organizational framework required in order to achieve structural democracy reform.
These events have engaged hundreds of everyday Michiganders, frequently exceeding capacity. This high level of engagement underscores the strong resonance of our mission and the potential for Voters Not Politicians to once again create transformational change for Michigan democracy. This investment in our volunteer network will directly translate to success as we move forward.

What’s Next
In the next few weeks, Voters Not Politicians is hosting even more local organizing meetings, and adding additional policy education events to keep up with the enthusiasm of our volunteer activists. As we ramp up our organizing efforts, it is clear that Michiganders are ready and excited to join our work and use the power of collective action to drive the change that our democracy needs right now.
