The following can be attributed to Nancy Wang, Executive Director of Voters Not Politicians, on Rudy Giuliani’s planned testimony and ongoing legislative hearings on the election:
“These political charades need to end. The election is over and the results have been certified. There is absolutely no evidence of irregularities in the election in Michigan, or in any other state, despite ongoing attempts to undermine the results. The Legislature should be focusing on protecting public health during the unprecedented spike in COVID-19 infections in our state. If leadership is truly committed to improving the integrity of our elections, they should pass legislation and appropriations to mail every registered voter an absentee ballot and begin processing ballots earlier in future elections.”
Democrat Joe Biden won Michigan by more than 154,000 votes, compared to the 10,704 votes that President Trump won over Hillary Clinton – a result that was accepted by the public and politicians from both parties in 2016. The Board of State Canvassers has certified statewide election results based on the finalized local vote counts by all 83 counties, in accordance with Michigan law.
Over 650 Voters Not Politicians volunteers worked with local clerks across the state through the election on the VoteSafe campaign to secure additional registration and voting hours, as well as satellite locations and secure drop boxes. The organization also worked with partners to launch www.MichiganDropBox.com to help voters locate secure drop box locations in their voting jurisdiction. VNP’s Nights & Weekends program secured wins in 17 municipalities including Pontiac, Kalamazoo, Sterling Heights, and more, serving over 800,000 registered voters across the state.
