VNP Statement on Michigan joining lawsuit to protect USPS, secure voting

The following can be attributed to Nancy Wang, Executive Director of Voters Not Politicians:

Voters Not Politicians stands with Attorney General Dana Nessel as she joins the lawsuit to ensure that all absentee voters in Michigan who mail their ballots through the U.S. Postal Service will have their votes counted. We are working alongside other organizations in the state to make sure Michigan voters know the facts about absentee voting and the options they have to return their ballots. We need the state Legislature to do its part to protect our elections by taking action to ensure ballots are counted accurately and efficiently, including passing HB 5987 that would allow ballots postmarked by election day to be counted up to 48 hours after the election.

Voters Not Politicians recently launched the VoteSafe campaign to urge the state legislature to take action to facilitate absentee voting in Michigan to protect public health and the integrity of our elections, while updating our voting system to make sure it is accessible for decades to come. A list of VoteSafe approved candidates can be found at https://votersnotpoliticians.com/votesafe/approved.
