New polling this month shows that Michiganders for Money Out of Politics (Mop Up Michigan) continues to poll higher than the Democratic governor, the Republican president, and every major candidate for statewide office in 2026. It has more support than even the most popular US institutions. And it polls well across the political spectrum.
Everyone agrees that the common sense, anti-corruption reforms offered by Mop Up Michigan are the right choice for Michigan voters. That’s why our coalition is continuing to push this campaign forward, and why we’re gaining more momentum and more supporters everyday.

The latest Lake Effect poll from our friends at Progress Michigan shows a whopping 81% of voters support the money out of politics initiative, with the percentage of voters opposing the measure in the single digits. This includes huge majorities of both 2024 Kamala Harris and Donald Trump voters.
Representative Jim DeSana (R-Ash Township), one of the co-sponsors of the legislation our petition is based on, invited Mop Up Michigan to present to the conservative Faith, Family, and Freedom Coalition. Folks from across dozens of Michigan counties showed up because conservative activists in Michigan are just as furious about the corrupting influence of money in Michigan politics as our own nonpartisan supporters. Attendees from the Faith, Family, and Freedom Coalition paid close attention to our presentation, asked informed questions, and signed up to help solve the problem by collecting signatures for Mop Up Michigan.
And in Howell, folks organizing to stop DTE exploiting their community for the benefit of Silicon Valley billionaires have made it clear that not only are they sick and tired of corporate donors having the loudest voice in state and local politics, but also that they’re willing to reach across political divides to un-rig our state politics and make real change happen.
As a leading partner in the Mop Up Michigan coalition, it’s exciting to see a real bipartisan shared commitment to fighting political corruption, and it’s wonderful to channel that energy directly into getting signatures to get money out of state politics. Our campaign is ramping up even as you read this!
VNP’s experienced volunteer circulator infrastructure is instrumental in producing consistent results for the campaign. We’re so proud of our volunteers for working so hard for Michigan’s democracy, especially those who are now on their 2nd or even 3rd petition campaign with us. VNP volunteers’ commitment to fighting for democracy by doing direct democracy inspires all of us on staff daily!
At the same time, VNP is joined in our efforts by a diverse group of partners, all finding unique ways to effectively run their own signature collection programs–from professionalized door to door canvassing field programs to high energy events featuring local poets, comedians, and music artists. We’re excited to see our partners ramping up their work by bringing in new staff, building out their own volunteer networks (from scratch!), bringing on local chapters as statewide networks grow, and fully focusing work on our shared goal of getting money out of state politics.
There is common ground in our divided country – the vast majority of voters want money out of politics, and they are sick of excuses from politicians explaining why we have to prop up the corrupt status quo undermining our democracy. The coalition we’ve helped build into MMOP, and the support growing amongst grassroots activists across the political spectrum, proves that by taking on this anti-corruption fight, we can once again unite voters for the deeply-shared cause of building a healthy democracy.
