Just because the legislature is out of session doesn’t mean our grassroots lobbying work is over. We’re launching our summer session of legislative action!
Voters Not Politicians is excited to be organizing grassroots lobbying walks and Legislative Town Halls in key house districts just in time for the legislature’s summer recess.
Grassroots Lobbying Walks
Representatives will be spending their summer in their districts focusing on hearing from their constituents, and Voters Not Politicians will be working hard to make sure they hear how much their voters support the protection and expansion of voting rights in Michigan. Through both positive and negative accountability efforts, we are spreading the word about the voting record of state representatives on issues critical to secure and accessible elections and asking voters in those districts to call their legislator and urge them to stand with voters and ban guns at polling places so every voter feels safe casting their ballot.
You can join our efforts to push lawmakers to strengthen democracy (and not to weaken it!) by joining an upcoming Democracy Canvass in a district near you!
Town Hall Series
We are working with many of our allies in the House to raise awareness in their communities about the work we’ve all been doing to move our other legislative priorities forward. As part of the in-district work our legislative champions are doing this summer, we will be talking about important updates around the BRITE Act and the Michigan Voting Rights Act legislation. The Legislature has a lot of priorities to tackle before the election and we are raising the alarm to make sure these bills have the support they need. Many of the details for the town halls are still in development, so be sure to check our social media and mobilize events page regularly!
