Activists across the political spectrum can all agree that picking up the phone and calling your elected officials is one of the most effective ways to make your voice heard.

In fact, many elected officials and their staff members have stated that a phone call from a constituent holds more weight than an email, tweet, or a fax.

By signing up for Dial For Democracy, you will receive email alerts when it’s time to call your lawmakers on legislation or decisions that impact Michigan’s democracy. These alerts will contain info and a script to help you have an easy and productive call to your local lawmaker.

Protect Voters from ICE:

Our most basic freedoms, and our elections, are under threat from federal overreach and aggressive, illegal law enforcement tactics that are threatening our constitutional right to participate in our democracy. Senate Bills 508, 509, and 510 will curtail the threat of ICE interference in our democracy by designating certain places, like courthouses and other “sensitive locations,” as immigration-enforcement-free zones, protecting Michiganders’ personal information, and stopping officers from concealing their identity. These bills are common-sense measures that will help ensure that Michiganders can exercise their freedom of speech, their right to assemble, and their right to participate in their democracy in the most basic ways.

Protect Voting Rights:

Congressional Republicans introduced the “Make Elections Great Again” Act, that goes above and beyond the documentary proof of citizenship policies we’ve been fighting against for the last year.

The MEGA Act is a direct assault on Michigan citizens’ access to the ballot, and the provisions of this bill fly in the face of the millions of Michiganders who voted to expand ballot access with the passage of Proposal 22-2, as well as undermining the efforts of volunteers like you who worked to get Proposal 22-2 on the ballot and passed.

Michigan’s elections are already secure and transparent. Our systems work. We need to tell our representatives in Congress that Michigan doesn’t need or want any federal interference in our elections.

Protest Illegal Power Grabs:

Under the current presidential administration, an unelected, unconfirmed, and unaccountable billionaire is actively working to bypass and undermine the rules of our democracy to carry out a political agenda. Replacing our constitutionally required system of decision making with the whims of an unelected billionaire is dangerous and anti-democratic.

We cannot stand silently by while extremists do an end run around Congress to dismantle our federal government and undermine our democracy.
