House District Map More Than Half-Way Complete

The commission has completed more than half of the State House district map, beginning their session by drafting district lines surrounding the cities of Flint and Saginaw, and in the thumb. The commission also drew district lines in the Lansing area. The commission continued drafting districts around the state including two districts in Ann Arbor, the suburbs surrounding Kalamazoo, and the suburbs surrounding Grand Rapids. These district lines were reconciled with previously drawn State House districts on the Western side of the state.

The commission will be meeting for additional hours this week to accommodate for drafting and deliberations. Along with meeting from 9 AM – 5 PM this Tuesday and Wednesday, the commission will be meeting this Friday at the Detroit Marriott Troy from 9 AM – 5 PM.
