As Voters Not Politicians evolves, expands, and launches more pro-democracy programs across the state, we are also continuing to grow our staff, and bring in more talent and skills to help us fund the work that keeps Michigan’s democracy strong.
Debbie Diesen, our new Development Associate, is bringing her passion and dedication to support every aspect of our pro-democracy work!
Originally from Midland, MI, Debbie currently resides in Grand Ledge, and joined the Voters Not Politicians staff in March of 2023. A former grants manager, bookkeeper, and reference librarian, Debbie now uses her talent for research and analysis to support the funding development of Voters Not Politicians.
As a lifelong Michigander, and someone who is deeply committed to voting rights and an inclusive democracy, Debbie has experienced first-hand the power of the Voters Not Politicians team.
Voters Not Politicians first came onto my awareness gradually, as I saw the impact of the grassroots work of volunteers and organizers. I feel honored and excited to now be a part of VNP! I love seeing the dedication and the amazing range of knowledge, skills, and creativity that VNP volunteers and staff bring to their VNP work!
Now a part of that staff, Debbie is also bringing her skills, passion, and dedication to multiple avenues of our pro-democracy work. The author of several children’s picture books, including the New York Times bestseller The Pout-Pout Fish and Equality’s Call, about the history of voting rights, Debbie also volunteers for our staff Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Task Force!
This year, as we continue to grow our pro-democracy movement and programming, Debbie is providing critical logistical support and information management for our Development Department, and looking forward to amplifying the positive impact Voters Not Politicians has on Michigan’s democracy!
