These are part of a national campaign led by politicians and special interest groups trying to make it harder for eligible citizens to vote — and now they’re coming after Michigan’s constitution to do it.

Quick facts on the petition:

Every voter (not just new registrants) will have to jump through extra hoops to prove their citizenship before the November 2, 2027 election in order to vote.
- A valid U.S. passport or certified birth certificate that matches government-issued ID must be presented in-person to a local clerk. A Michigan driver’s license, state ID, or REAL ID will no longer be enough to register and vote.
This petition will rewrite Michigan’s constitutional voter ID requirements and replace them with red tape and government bureaucracy.
Politicians and national special interest groups are trying to avoid accountability and pick which voters are allowed to vote. Voters should choose their politicians, not the other way around!
