LANSING, Mich. – Today’s vote by the Board of State Canvassers to give the “Secure MI Vote” petition “as to form” approval will allow the radical anti-voter movement to start collecting signatures in their attempt to cut off access to the ballot for eligible voters. Voters Not Politicians is mobilizing volunteers to provide Michiganders the facts about this anti-voter petition.
“All of us support safe, secure and fair elections,” said Nancy Wang, executive director of Voters Not Politicians. “This petition has nothing to do with improving our elections, and everything to do with perpetuating the Big Lie. The petition would change our election laws to make it harder for voters to vote and have their vote counted. The so-called “Secure MI Vote” group will be trying to hide these facts when asking people to sign their petition, but Voters Not Politicians volunteers will be making sure voters know the truth.”
“67% of voters – Republicans, Democrats and Independents in rural and urban communities all across the state – voted less than 3 years ago to make voting more accessible, not less. That’s why our volunteers are going to be urging voters everywhere to decline to sign this toxic petition. We know that once voters know the truth, they will reject the petition.”
