We are in the home stretch of this election cycle. Everyone is tired, but on November 9th we don’t want to have any doubts about whether we could have done more.
Let’s take a quick look at what we’ve accomplished so far, then at what needs to be done in the next week (Hint: lots of voter contact!)
We have knocked on more than 67,000 doors, educating voters about prop 2 and helping folks make a voting plan. We have given informational literature to every one of those households, and to thousands more people at grassroots events. VNP presenters have spoken about prop 2 at municipal meetings, school board meetings, churches, voting rights and ballot proposal forums, candidate forums, and more.
Through Voters Action Committee, we have also been working toward our goal of a pro-voter majority in our state legislature. In addition to knocking on doors in-district to talk about individual legislative candidates, more than 300 VNP volunteer canvassers have also been advocating for our pro-voter Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson and MI Supreme Court Justice candidate Kyra Bolden. This in-person voter contact is supported with digital ads, mail, and text messages to voters in our key districts. We need elected officials at every level of government who will respect the choices that voters make at the ballot box rather than trying to tear down our elections from the inside.
Our ambitious goal to flip the state senate to a pro-voter majority is within our grasp, but we need your help. We have one more week to reach voters to encourage them to vote, and to talk to them about what’s on their ballot (and where everything is on their ballot!).
In 2 ½ hours, you can make a difference that will impact millions of Michiganders for years to come.
There are only 6 days left to reach voters! You can help by signing up for one of these canvassing launch events. Once there, you will receive training, literature and a script to use while talking to voters. We make this really easy for new folks by giving them lots of training and pairing them up with an experienced canvasser. Working together, we’ll be able to cover a lot of ground and make a critical difference in the election results.
And on November 9th, regardless of the election outcome, you’ll wake up proud knowing you did your part to defend democracy in Michigan.
